BMW Car Magazine Forum Wales Challenge - March 2003
Stage 1: Woking to Milton Keynes

Raging, rancid 'flu. It started on Monday, by this stage it was Friday morning, and while the dizziness had gone, I was still deep in the grip of the fever. Driving was not going to be an easy task, but I had to get to Wales for the second M.A.D. event somehow. Hmmm. Still, a hot shower and a couple of Anadin later I decided to at least try and get myself to Robin's, worse case he could drive me to Wales while I passed out dribbling and shivering in the passenger seat.

So bags and tools packed, I left the house for the first time in four days to get the car out of the garage. I was delighted to discover that the 328 had transformed itself into a M3 Evo since the last M.A.D. event. Bargain, six gears to play with too!

By 10:45 I was cocked, locked and ready to rock, even if my nose was running like a tap and it felt like my eyeballs needed new bearings. I had to go from Woking to Bedford, pick up RobinXR and then meet BmwQueenie in Milton Keynes at 11.00. It was certainly going to be one of those days! I had a fairly uneventful journey up to Bedford, aside from realising that I'd left the excel spreadsheet with all attendees' details on my computer, and so had to call Robin to get him to recollate the data.

I maintained schedule well, and by 12.45 I had managed to collect the intrepid photographer. Like last time, we had the correct luggage / tools ratio going on in the boot:

Late as ever, we met up with BmwQueenie and her friend Vix at about 1.30.
(this picture was actually taken later, as weather was extremely poor at 1:30, but you get the idea)

Kilo and Queenie

Then, we were off to the Wales!
